My hosting company only uses sqlserver for windows and I need mysql. Is it possible to store this data base on my computer and still be able to run phpadmin to get my site up and running? I do not want to create my own server. Is that even possible?

It would be possible to have the mysql database on your computer but you would need to have a static ip address and a fast, reliable connection to your computer. I wouldn't recommend doing it this way. You would be best off to change your hosting company to one that would provide the services that you need. You current hosting company may have a linux option as well since most offer windows or linux options.

But if you use PHP, you should use Apache Web Server
